Representative matters:

  • Successfully defended individual client and negotiated a favorable resolution of civil claims asserted by the City of New York under the RICO statute, the federal PACT Act and other statutes arising out of alleged participation in a scheme to smuggle cigarettes from lower taxing jurisdictions into the State and City of New York. 

  • Successfully defended client hospital against putative class action asserting that the hospital's billing practices were unlawful. Succeeded in defeating motion for class certification followed by favorable resolution of individual plaintiff's claim and dismissal of action.

  • Lead counsel in litigation of a complex contractual dispute between two telecommunications companies involving issues of contract law, U.S. bankruptcy law and federal communications law. Handled all aspects of this matter including fifteen day bench trial that lead to judgment in client's favor, appeal to the Appellate and Supreme Courts of the State of Connecticut, affirmation of judgment in favor of client, successful motion for reconsideration and second Connecticut Supreme Court decision remanding the case to the trial court for further findings.

  • Successfully represented client hospital in dispute with terminated outside record retention vendor by securing preliminary injunction requiring vendor to turn over previously withheld index to the hospital's records that had been removed from storage with the defendant vendor. 

  • Successfully represented a regional medical center in multi-forum litigation concerning construction grant-related wage restrictions, thereby enabling completion of new hospital construction

  • Represented construction design engineering firm in successfully resolving multi-million dollar dispute with owner of several commercial construction projects

  • Successfully represented captive insurance company fund administrator in international litigation over unauthorized investments in derivative instruments.

  • Represented individuals in connection with SEC insider trading investigations.

  • Represented individuals in State Court and Surrogate's Court litigation concerning estate related corporate issues

  • Represented medical centers in credentialing and discipline-related disputes with physicians
